PR on a BUDGET
Yes! I have finally decided to embark on opening my own little PR firm. I am now registered and ready to go...I have also acquired a few things that I'll need such as a computer, a printer and a working mobile phone. So, where do I go from here? How do I get clients?
Well, advertising in traditional media is not cheap so I have to look at other alternatives so people can know about my business....
My suggestions are:
CREATE A PRESENCE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is free! Yes! There is Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on. Create a page dedicated to your business and the services you offer. Try and update these pages regularly so that your subscribers are not bored and are kept up to date with your activities. Use catchy phrases, and don't forget that visual relief is very important in today's world of visual learners.
CREATE A BLOG
This creates a first hand view of your writing skills. Public Relations is about writing, writing and more writing! Whether its press releases, feature stories or an elevator pitch, writing is essential to your craft.
CORPORATE MINGLING
There are many events tailored towards networking and corporate connections. Check the local events calendar and make yourself available for these events. Make sure that you have business cards and information about your business readily available for promotion at these functions.
JOIN A FORUM
There are many forums out there aimed at public relations. Use this medium to bound ideas off members of the group as well as to seek advice about projects that you are involved in.
I hope this helps you to push start your business ... Let's do this together!! :)
